Principal Grassa’s Pawprints 9/30/18

Jamaica Plan News: We are excited to share that our Library Re-Opening continues to make the news! Be sure to check out this online article!

No School: We will not have school on Monday, October 8th.

Sibling Walker Dismissal Procedure: Here is some clarity for sibling walkers in the afternoon who will dismiss from the Lower School.

  • Ms. Solomon-Key will walk down the 3rd grade, then 2nd grade hallways to collect sibling walkers. Then, she will escort the group across the ramp into the lower school.
  • Ms. Bello will stand at the end of the ramp in the lower school and meet the group (and any other older siblings that are sibling walkers).
  • K1, K2, and 1st grade sibling walkers will go with their grade level walkers. Parents will pick up younger siblings at their respective locations. The parent and younger sibling will then meet the older sibling group (with Ms. Solomon and Bello) outside in the Lower School courtyard by the mural.

School Site Council (SSC): Please join us for our first SSC meeting of the year on Tuesday, October 9th from 5:30pm-7:00pm in Room 209. Please enter through the CASP doors. All families and staff members are welcome to attend!

Health and Wellness Committee: The Health and Wellness Committee had their first meeting last week, and they are actively working on planning and promoting the BPS Walk to School Day event that will take place on Wednesday, October 10th. This exciting annual event for Boston Public School students and families encourages the community to walk or bike to school as part of the BPS Safe Routes to School program. I have included a link to the Walk to School Flyer and made copies for students to take home this weekend.
For more information, please feel free to contact Adam Marks at amarks555@yahoo.com and you can also register for the walk online with this link: Walk to School. We hope to see you and your families walking to school with us on the 10th!

Please come join us at The 12th Annual Curley K-8 Fall Fling on Friday October 19th from 5:30 – 8:00PM
This is a great family event and fundraiser with food, fun activities, a raffle with major prizes and a DJ! Parent volunteers play an essential role in making this a great event for our school community. Please see links below to sign up to volunteer. The money raised goes toward important enrichment programs such as music, art, dance, Playworks and field trips for our children.

Please click here to sign up for a task that you are interested in helping with. Please reach out if you’re not able to attend the event but would like to participate in some way. Every bit helps!

Please contact Jessica London-Rand at jlondonrand@gmail.com/617-694-2405 (se habla español) if you have any questions.
