Principal Grassa’s Pawprints 6/16/19
Thank You!
Our year is coming to a close and we want to thank all our families for their support throughout the year! We have had a great school year and we wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer! Don’t forget to do your summer reading and we will see you in September!
Last Day of School
The last day of school will be Wednesday, June 19th and we will have an early release from school (1pm) on June 18th and 19th.
The last day of CASP will be Monday, June 17th.
Curley Boosterthon Fun Run Thanks
Thank you to all the families who donated to the Curley Fun Run! Also thank you to all the families who volunteered for the fun run and a special thank you to the students for running for our school!
And yes, we beat our fundraising goal so Principal Grassa got pied in the face not once, but ELEVEN times this past Wednesday. That’s a principal who loves her students!
Summer Reading 2019
We are finalizing expectations and guidelines for Curley’s summer 2019 reading program. As last year, all students will be asked to take a pledge to read daily over the summer months and to maintain a log of this reading. In addition, students entering grades 4 through 8 will be expected to read one additional book, in coordination with the BPS and Boston Public Library initiative, “Summer Reading Together”.
Packets of information, including the summer reading pledge, reading bingo activity, and logs were sent home this past week.
Curley Ambassadors of Dance (CAD):
For ten years, Curley Ambassadors of Dance (CAD) has:
- reached approximately 300 students grades 2nd – 6th
- rehearsed more than 400 hours
- performed on more than ten different stages
- created 30+ performances in and around community
- showcased 1st Choreography Performance-by students for students in 2013
Curley Ambassadors of Dance is a FREE PROGRAM for serious dance students, eager to work on creative projects and performances.
In 2019-20 CAD will be divided into age appropriate groups
- CAD meets Thursdays* (Grades 2-5) and Wednesdays (Middle School)
- Pre-register for CAD by sending your Name/Email/Phone and Child’s Name to Kim Taylor Knight (storyinabox@gmail.com)
* Please note that this is a correction from previous Pawprints which listed rehearsal for 2nd-5th grades on Tuesday. This was incorrect. CAD for 2nd-5th graders will meet on Thursday afternoons.
Curley Musical 2019-20
Ms. Taylor Knight is forming a working group that will meet during August to discuss play selection and volunteer help for the musical. If you are interested in being part of this group, please complete this short google form. Thanks in advance.
Footwear for Students
The weather is getting warmer and students will start to wear sandals to school. We want to encourage families to have their student wear sneakers. This type of footwear is safer for recess and physical education classes as well. Thanks.
Arrival/Dismissal Parking
We are asking families to pay attention to the parking signs at arrival/dismissal and make sure that you are not blocking driveways when you come to school. The Boston Police will ticket if you are found in violation of this on the surrounding streets
