For the 2020-21 school year we need to fill the following elected positions. Please note that you MUST BE PRESENT at the meeting on October 28th to be elected to a position.

SPC Co-Chairs (1-3 openings)

Heidi, Jess, and Elisabeth will mentor new Co-chairs throughout the year to ensure a seamless transition.

SPC Co-Secretaries (2 openings)

Multilingual English/Spanish skills would be useful.

SPC Co-Treasurer (1 opening)

Paul will be continuing in the role but would like a partner for support and to train for the following year.

School Site Council (7 openings + 2 alternates)

There are 7 parent seats available on the School Site Council (SSC) as well as 2 alternate positions. Ideally the parent members represent the diversity of the school community. For more information, visit the SSC’s webpage.

Citywide Parent Council (1 opening + 1 alternate)

For more information about this role visit the BPS Citywide Parent Council (CPC) website.

District English Learner Advisory Committee (1 opening + 1 alternate)

For more information about this role visit the BPS District English Learners Advisory Committee (DELAC) website.

Special Education Parent Advisory Council (1 opening + 1 alternate)

For more information about this role visit the BPS Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SPEDPAC) website.

In addition to elected leadership roles there are also volunteer committees you can lead or join.

The Fundraising and Communications committees are being revived and we are looking for volunteers to take the lead.

Fundraising & Events

This committee works closely with the SPC leadership team and Curley administration to identify fundraising priorities. In past years, the primary function of the fundraising committee was to raise money to support art, music, field trips, and the anti-bullying PlayWorks program at the Curley. Our focus for the 2020-21 school year will shift to supporting our community during the pandemic.

Communications

This committee works closely with the SPC leadership team and Curley administration to share information and build community via the Curley website, weekly e-newletter (Paw Prints), social media channels, etc. Increasing language accessibility is a key priority for the upcoming year.

Representatives from the following committees will share information about how to participate in their work at the October 28th meeting.
