Playground Improvement Updates:
There would be a community engagement process that the landscape architects would guide us through starting in the fall. This would involve input from teachers, students, and parents/other interested community members so that a final design can be reached. Construction would take place next summer (2024), so the playground would be ready for SY 2024-2025.
Curley Library:
Hello Curley Families,
Happy May!! Although allergy season is at its worst for many of us, I admire the persistence of our Curley readers. They read and enjoy great books, even through itchy eyes!
Here are a few updates from the library:
- Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month- Happy AAPI Heritage month! This month is an incredible opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to American history, and to have conversations with students about #StopAsianHate and why it matters. More information, teacher resources, videos and the May AAPI Heritage Month Challenge, can be found here.
- Return Books: Please help your child return books that they are no longer using.
- Summer Reading: I am starting to get inquiries about summer reading lists. Everything you need to know about Curley’s summer reading program can be found on the library website. I will update this resource more and more as we get closer to the Summer, so keep your eyes peeled for Boston Public Library programs, which will also be posted on our library website.

School-Based Inclusion Team:
The School-Based Inclusion Planning Team is a team of educators and parents who meet weekly to collaborate and plan for the implementation of inclusion at Curley K-8. Together, we are following a district-wide process to make recommendations on the implementation of inclusion across our school. Below is the process the team will be following.

Curley Website Update:
The Website Committee is underway with their work. The committee will revise content and reformat the dropdown menu in the coming weeks. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up if you noticed things looked different. We hope to create a staging site (a separate domain that functions as a website but has a different URL) to avoid altering the current website as we tinker, but we haven’t yet figured out if this is possible. We appreciate your patience as we begin our work!
