February is Black History Month and the Curley faculty and staff are celebrating it./El mes de febrero es el Mes de la Historia Afro-Americana y la facultad y el personal de la Curley lo celebra.

Ms. L. Peck-Oser had her students work on a project about Dr. Matin Luther King, Jr. She is putting up the posters made by her students. /Los estudiantes de la profesora L. Mr. Tewksbury teaches ESL and other subjects in the SAR (Student Accessibility Resources) program. He has been teaching at the Curley for more than 11 years and every time you see him, he is smiling and is ready to help./El profesor Tewksbury imparte clases de inglés y de otras materias en el programa SAR (Student Accessibility Resources). **Meet Sugeily Santos, Student Development Counselor—for grades 7-8.** Ms. Santos is in charge of numerous programs intended for the well-being of our students. She is also responsible for planning and presenting to our parents and 8th graders the different high schools available to choose from. She meets with students in small groups and with individuals for counseling. Ms. Santos is bilingual so she can address her students in Spanish or in English. /**La Sra. Sugeily Santos es nuestra consejera para los grados 7-8.** Ella está a cargo de una variedad de programas con la intención de ayudar a los estudiantes. Ms. Justina Levey, social worker grades 2, 3 and 4 along with Ms. Spring, Ms. Maiden, Ms. Wright, Ms. Smith and Ms. Pulsifer started a program to reward the students who follow Curley expectations: We care about ourselves, each other and our school. They reward these students with tickets, they save them and buy items at the school store such as small toys and snacks they purchase at Amazon. The school store team is once again asking parents to help out by going to this link and order any of the items. **The music class with Jason Cammarata is a moment of excitement.** He teaches percussion instruments to both his classes: different kinds of drums, sticks, “maracas”, tambourine, and more. His class is full of rhythm! The photo caught the teacher addressing the group, but after 1 minute, everybody was playing in unison the sticks./**La clase de música del profesor Jason Cammarata es un momento de emoción!** El imparte clases de instrumentos de percusión como es la batería, una variedad de tambores usando las manos y usando palitos, maracas, pandereta y otros más. Su clase está llena de ritmo. En la foto pude capturar al profesor hablándole a su clase, pero luego de 1 minuto, todos estaban tocando los palitos (las claves) a la misma vez.

**Kelly Pry or Ms. Pry, as many know her,** is also a music teacher at our school. She was directing the group of students who were playing wind instruments (trumpet). My office is right next to her classroom and I can hear Ms. Pry teach how to play ukulele to the little ones. She also teaches other wind instruments besides the trumpet. We are very fortunate to have two excellent music teachers in our school./**Kelly Pry o “Ms. Pry”** como muchos la conocen es una profesora de música en nuestra escuela. En la foto ella estaba dirigiendo un grupo de alumnos que tocaban la trompeta. Mi oficina está al lado de su salón así que puedo escuchar cuando la Sra. Pry le está enseñando cómo tocar el ukulele a los pequeños. Los estudiantes también pueden aprender a tocar otros instrumentos de viento a parte de la trompeta. Nuestra escuela se siente afortunada de tener dos maestros de música excelentes.

A Curley shout out to Corey Evans, mother of Grace Horan and Vice President & Senior Director of Education, for tickets to Annie Thursday evening. Ms. Evans is Vice President & Senior Director of Education at the Boch Center, Wang Theater. It was a fun event, and inspired our youngest musical students. Thirty-seven members of our Curley community cheered along with the perky orphan, named Annie.
