Joining or leading a committee is a great way to give back to the school and get to know other members of the Curley community. Below are our current committees. If you want to help out, email the contact person listed for that committee.
The Curley Arts Committee is a group of parents and teachers working together on fun, community-enriching arts projects. We support community art nights, field trips, performances, showcases, and events – including the 100th Day Festival, our wonderful signature event! We keep notes here. The Communication team collaborates with school staff and other caregivers to improve communication between our school and our caregiver community; keeps families informed of Curley K-8 news and events; and works on outreach projects aimed at increasing the number of engaged families, with the goal of ensuring that our active parent group reflects the diversity of our student body. Meeting times TBD. Contact Emily Cavanagh: etcavanagh@gmail.com
This committee is traditionally led by the SPC leadership team and organizes community building and fundraising events. The community events are: The Welcome Back Party (for 2023), The Fall Fling (all a fundraising event) and Field Day. The fundraising events for this year will be: silent auction (March), Plant Sale (May) and the Walk/Fun Run. The scope of this committee’s work is vast and the SPC leadership counts on other folks to help coordinate these special events. The tri-chairs will be recruiting other Curley SPC members to do this important work. If interested, reach out to spc@curleyk8.com.
The Schoolyard Improvement Committee (SIC) is a growing group of Curley teachers, families, and staff who are interested in caring for our grounds and ensuring that our outdoor spaces are accessible to all. Planning meetings take place via Zoom every second Tuesday of the month from 8-8:30 pm. Cleanup events take place every third Sunday of the month from 10 am – 12 noon. Check Curley K8 Calendar to confirm. Learn more!
This committee will work on ideas to raise funds through sponsorships and grants to reduce the burden on families. If interested, reach out to Rebecca at rmginzburg@gmail.com.
The Health & Wellness Committee is a collaboration of teachers, caregivers, and administration in support of the health and wellbeing of all Curley community members. Programs include support for walking and biking to school; building environmental walk-throughs; and physical movement initiatives for students. Meeting times TBD. Chair needed! Email spc@curleyk8.com if you are interested.
The Teacher Appreciation Committee is a group of parents and caregivers who plan ways to recognize and celebrate the Curley’s teachers and staff. Annual events include a luncheon during Teaching Appreciation Week in May, as well as planning ways to thank Curley staff for their dedication to our children and make them feel appreciated throughout the school year.
