Paw Prints – June 14

Thank You: Thank you to every Curley K-8 Family for your support over the last school year. This year was hard on all of us but we continued to thrive despite all the world kept throwing our way. We are grateful that you entrusted your children in our care both online and in person and we appreciate your communication and support through it all. Together we helped our students learn and be prepared to move on to the next grade level. It is important to take time to reflect on the successes from this school year and we encourage you to ask your child: What was the best part of this school year? What was the most important lesson you learned?

We hope you have a safe, healthy and happy summer break. Everyone deserves time to laugh, enjoy the fresh air and spend quality time playing with friends. We encourage you to have your child read and play outdoors as often as possible. They are welcome to read in any language or even be read to by an older sibling or adult in the home. Below you will find more information on summer reading.

Please note that our school will be closed for the summer but that our main offices will open up again on Monday, August 16th.

Last Days of School: Our last day of school is Friday, June 18th. We will have a 12:30pm dismissal on Thursday, June 17th and Friday, June 18th.

Summer Reading:
BPS is launching a summer reading initiative called One Book One Grade Summer Reading Together 2021. We have copies of each book to go home with students in the coming days.

SY 2021-2022 Calendar: BPS has just released the calendar for next school year. Here it is for your reference.

Chromebooks:
Any student that will be returning to the Curley in September will keep their current assigned computer at home with them.  Here is the link to the acceptable use policy that will be sent home to families as a reminder.  If families have any computer related issues during the summer they can call the Family Hotline – 617-635-8873.

Any student not returning to the Curley, even if they are remaining in BPS, must return their currently assigned chromebooks.

In-person Students:

  • Return to classroom teacher
  • Beginning the week of June 7th, teachers will keep computers of students not returning to the Curley stored in their classrooms for in school use until the last day of school.

Remote Students:

  • Beginning June 14 – June 24, computers can be returned to the upper school main office between 8:30am – 2:30pm (June24th 8:30-12:00)
  • Students in grade 8 attending the Moving On ceremony may return the computers at that time.  Computers must be returned in order for students to receive their Moving On certificate.
  • If families are unable to return the computer prior to June 24th, they may call the family hotline, 617-635-8873,  to schedule a time to drop the computer off at the Campbell Resource Center.

** Computers not returned to the Curley by June 18th will be disabled and marked as lost.

Family Climate Survey:
BPS is about to send out the Family Climate Survey. The survey window is from Monday, May 24 through Friday, June 18. This survey is asking parents/guardians to tell us about their child’s learning experience this year to inform plans to return, recover and reimagine for the 21-22 school year.

School Councils:
Check out our School Site Council (SSC) and School Parent Council (SPC)! We have a  wonderful group of new and returning council members who are all excited to meet with Curley families. SPC and SSC are great ways to get involved in school planning and have your voice be heard. Please join us at any of the following times, come to one or come to all!
