The Curley School Parent Council (SPC) brings all families in the school community together to support the school and advocate for quality education. The SPC is where families can discuss concerns, express needs, recommend programs and join community events. All parents/legal guardians are automatically members of the SPC at their child’s school.

The Curley School Parent Council is holding elections for the following positions:

SPC Chairs (2-3)                    City-wide Parent Council Rep (1)

Co-treasurer (1) District English Learner Advisory Committee Rep (1)

Co-secretaries (2) Special Education Parent Advisory Council (1-2)

SSC Reps (7 reps with 1-2 alternates)

For more information on each role, please see attached flyer: SPC Roles

Curley Website Update:

The Website Committee is underway with their work. In the coming weeks, the committee will start revising content and reformatting the dropdown menu. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up in case you noticed things looked different. We hope to create a staging site (a separate domain that functions as a website but has a different URL) to avoid altering the current website as we tinker but haven’t yet figured out if this is possible.  We appreciate your patience as we begin our work!  We’ll update you again in the next Paw Prints!

The Curley Performing Arts Team is proud to announce the 2023 3rd-5th grade musical:

Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim

Into the Woods has over 20 parts, including Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Jack, the Wolf, and more. We will begin casting on October 19th at 3:30. The production team will double cast the show, and the performances will be in April 2023. If your child is registered, you will begin to receive a company email each Sunday with updates and casting news.

Your Production Team,

Kim Taylor Knight (Director), Emanuela Alves (Music Director), Erin Doherty (Choreographer)

Volunteer Opportunities at the Curley:

  • Walk to School Day: On Wednesday, October 12, the Curley will celebrate Walk to School Day, a day to encourage students to use active transportation on their way to school. Walking, biking, and scooting to school is a great ways to start the day with some physical activity.

This year, we will have three walking routes, plus a “Park & Walk,” where parents can park their cars, then walk their children to school, or drop them off to walk with friends.

But we need help! We still have several volunteer slots open and would love support from the Curley community. Please sign up here. Available positions:

  • Lead a walk from Spring Park Ave and Chestnut Ave
  • Set up coffee at the Park & Walk (45 Brookside Ave)
  • Set up snacks at the Centre Street school entrance

If you’d just like to walk with us, you can register here

Questions? Email Emily (MT Evelyn, 5th grade) at etcavanagh@gmail.com.

  • Fall Fling: The Curley School’s annual Fall Fling is returning this year! This is a chance for parents/caregivers to connect, celebrate and enjoy our wonderful school community.  Curley’s Fall Fling will take place on Friday, October 14th, from 5:30-8:00 pm.

If you want to get involved, join in planning this community event. We are looking for families to volunteer time and/or services to make this event a success. If you would like to get involved – please sign up or email maura.deedy@gmail.com

Schoolyard Improvement Committee (SIC):

We will hold a Curley Cleanup on  Sunday, October 16th, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
