POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Curley K-8 Partnership with BMC: We are very happy to offer our 5 to 14 years old students the opportunity to get the COVID-19 vaccine at the Curley. We know that a lot of families have been concerned about some of the COVID-19 cases in the past days, and for that reason we wanted to offer the vaccine to our Curley students as soon as possible.

The Inclusion Done Right Committee welcomes all families, educators and community members to the Inclusion 101 – Family Forum on November 15th @ 6:30-8:00PM. Families will have a space to ask questions and receive answers and resources, as well as connect with other families. Topics covered will include: IEP meetings, family rights, services, summer support and much more! Translation services will be provided for Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Kriolu and Vietnamese. Community resources:

Thanksgiving meal bag that is being given away at Egleston YMCA in Roxbury. They will be given away on Saturday, November 20th. Registration is required
Food meal kits and meal boxes given away on November 10th and 17th at Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center. We will start giving out kits at 2:30 pm until they run out.

Coats Drive: We are starting to feel a bit cold and for that reason we would like to begin our coats drive survey. This is an opportunity for families to sign up and get FREE coats, boots, or/and mittens if you are in need. Please fill out this form so we can have a better idea of the sizes we need. This form will be open for 4 week.

6th grades. It is recruitment time again at Achieve. Each year, Achieve enrolls a cohort of 6th graders into their program. Unfortunately, we have not had success in getting Curley families to commit to this amazing program. Please take a moment to learn about Achieve and its referral criteria. About Achieve:

Achieve partners with families to empower motivated students from Boston to close the opportunity gap. We provide transformative academic and enrichment programming from middle school through high school and college.
The Achieve Program offers hardworking and motivated students a $15,000 scholarship so that you can attend our program for FREE for three years.
Throughout the three years, students will:

Receive free transportation to our summer program at the Noble and Greenough School and free breakfast and lunch.
Attend Saturday sessions twice a month during the 2022-2023 & 2023-2024 academic school year.
Commit to attending our 5 and a half week summer program for three years (Summer 2022, Summer 2023, & Summer 2024).
Complete homework assignments that will help deepen their learning (attendance and homework completion are required).
Receive High School Placement support (as needed).

After completing your three year commitment, Achieve will continue supporting you throughout high school and applying to college.

Our Scholars

The Achieve Program is looking for:
- Current sixth grader attending a Boston Public School or Boston Charter School.
- Students who are motivated and eager to learn and improve their skills in Science, Math, Reading, and Writing.
- Students who are committed to attending all three years of our program and to working hard in order to get more opportunities in life.
- Students who are excited to meet peers from other schools in Boston and be part of a fun and inclusive community.

Curley K-8 Family Hand Book:

We invite all families to read the family hand book from the Curley. You will find a lot of information about the school like absences, outdoor weather policies, bullying, cell phone policies, among other things. You will find it in different languages; Spanish, Somali, Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, Hatian Creole, Vietnamese). You can download it and save it on your computer.

City of Boston’s Office of Workforce Development:

Are you missing your child’s tax credits? Many families don’t realize that parents do not have to be citizens to receive this tax credit as long as their child has a Social Security number. These include children whose parents earn too little money to be required to file taxes, and families with mixed-immigration status. The most helpful resource for Boston residents is the Child Tax Credit Call Line, at the Mayor’s Office of Financial Empowerment. If a parent doesn’t know if they need to file taxes, isn’t sure why they haven’t gotten the Child Tax Credit, needs to update their information, or just wants to talk to a real person to get their Child Tax Credit questions answered they should call (617) 356-8109 and leave a message for Lynn. Lynn can walk people through using the Child Tax Credit portals.

Acerca de Achieve:
