Save the Dates: 

  • September 28th: First School Parent Council Meeting (SPC) on Wednesday, September 29th, from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm at Curley School and via zoom
  • October 6th: Curley K-8 Open House on Thursday, October 6th, from 5 pm-7 pm @ the Curley School (both lower and upper campus) 
  • October 10th: There will be no school on Monday, October 10th, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. 
  • October 12th: Curley’s Annual Walk to School Day 
  • October 14th: Curley’s Fall Fling on Friday, October 14th, from 5:30-8:00 pm for more details, please see attached flyer. 

School Parent Council (SPC):

The Curley School Parent Council works with the Principal to build an inclusive school community, support school-wide events, and fundraise for school priorities outlined by the School Site Council. The Council meets monthly. All parents/guardians are automatically members of the SPC and encouraged to attend

When: Wednesday, September 28th, 2022, from 6:00pm-7:00pm

Where: Curley Lower School Cafeteria (40 Pershing Rd.) – The zoom option is available for families who cannot attend in person. More information to come. 

Volunteers needed for Walk to School Day:

On October 12, the Curley will be participating in Walk to School Day, a chance to celebrate walking and biking to school and beyond and to encourage safe pedestrian and bike habits wherever our children go! 

The Health and Wellness Committee is looking for volunteers to help with the following:

  • Plan a Park ‘n Walk event
  • Create promotional materials for Walk to School Day
  • Contact local elected officials to walk with the kids or great them at school
  • Create signage 
  • Walk with the kids
  • Contact local businesses for donations
  • More!

Fall Fling: 

The Curley School’s annual Fall Fling is returning this year! This is a chance for parents/caregivers to connect, celebrate and enjoy our wonderful school community.  Curley’s Fall Fling will take place on Friday, October 14th, from 5:30-8:00 pm.

If you want to get involved, join in planning this community event. We are looking for families to volunteer time and/or services to make this event a success. If you would like to get involved – please sign up or email maura.deedy@gmail.com 

Schoolyard Improvement Committee (SIC): 

We will hold cleanups on the third Sunday of every month, always at 10:00 AM. We hold planning meetings over Zoom (https://berklee.zoom.us/j/7848778190) on the second Tuesday of every month at 8:00 PM. All are welcome to join!

After School Opportunities:

  • Sole Train- We are so excited to welcome back Sole Train at the Curley again this school year! Sole Train is a community-building and mentoring program that “uses running as a vehicle for setting and achieving seemingly impossible goals.” Sole Train practices will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45. Walkers and runners are welcome! This program is for students in grades 6-8. 
  • CASP The Curley After School Program is running and if you are interested in any before or after-school programming, please email our Director, Erika Mercado. Before school begins each day at 7 am and after school goes until 6 pm.
  • Tenacity Grades 6-8 – Tenacity’s Ace Academy is an intensive program for students in grades 6-8 that focuses on improving students’ academic, tennis, and fitness skills, while simultaneously nurturing social/emotional development and engaging families. Tenacity has been at the Curley K-8 for over 10 years and is a FREE after-school program Monday-Thursday from 3-6 pm and Fridays from 3-5 pm.   • Dance & Theater opportunities – The dance and theater teacher for K-1st and 6-8th is Ms. Taylor Knight. She is leading some after-school programming that is free for all students. There are opportunities for
    • Curley Ambassadors of Theater (CAT)
    •  Musical Theater
    •  Production (tech) crew
