End of the Year Appeal:

Dear Curley Families,

As we look to the holidays and winter break, many families reflect on what is important to them. I suspect many of us feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of the Curley community.

An ambitious fundraising goal has been set by the Curley community to support the arts, technology, and playground upgrades and equipment. We hope you will read the letter below for Principal Grassa and consider a tax deductible gift (can be made via PayPal, Venmo, check). Any amount helps reach our goal! Thank you!

School-Based Inclusion Team:

The School-Based Inclusion Planning Team is a team of educators and parents who meet weekly to collaborate and plan for the implementation of inclusion at Curley K-8.  Together, we are following a district-wide process to make recommendations on the implementation of inclusion across our school.  Below is the process the team will be following.

For more information on what the team is doing, you can check out the weekly updates. Please view the following document: Curley K-8 SBIPT Communication to Staff/Families

Curley Walkthrough Parent Volunteers:

We are looking for parents/guardians to volunteer to run a tour group for perspective Curley families on any of the following days:

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ms. Hernandez via email at yhernandez@bostonpublicschools.org.

COVID-19 and Flu Update:

We have seen an increase in respiratory illnesses, including flu and COVID-19 cases, in our school. Please keep your student home if they feel sick, including if they have a fever. Masking is strongly encouraged for all, good hand hygiene is important and don’t forget to get vaccinated!

Please also make sure you use your COVID test on Sunday evening or Monday morning before returning to school, regardless if your student is experiencing symptoms or not.

Thank you for helping to keep our school healthy and safe!

School Parent Council:

The School Parent Council (SPC) wants to better understand how best to communicate with our school community. Please take two minutes to fill out the survey below. If you have questions or additional comments, contact the SPC tri-chairs (Yesenia, Brian, and Meghan) at k8curleyspc@gmail.com.. Thank you for your time!

Please fill out the following google form:  Communication at the Curley School

Curley Library:

First of all, please bookmark the updated Curley Library Website.  This website is a digital commons that serves as an academic information hub for students and families.  Please take a few minutes to orient yourself to this resource.  In particular, please find the link to the online catalog.  Please note that you’ll need to enter Curley K8 the first time you access the catalog on your device.

Please read the Welcome Letter from Curley’s very own librarians. Read letter here

Library volunteers needed

The Curley library is looking for volunteers! There are also ongoing opportunities to help with shelving and organizing books. If you are interested in volunteering at the library, email Rachel King at rachel.and.bracken@gmail.com

All volunteers need to pass a CORI check, which can be found here: https://bit.ly/bpscori

Curley Website Update:

The Website Committee is underway with their work. The committee will revise content and reformat the dropdown menu in the coming weeks. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up if you noticed things looked different. We hope to create a staging site (a separate domain that functions as a website but has a different URL) to avoid altering the current website as we tinker, but we haven’t yet figured out if this is possible.  We appreciate your patience as we begin our work!
