Save the Dates:
- February 27th: Students return from February break.
- February 28th:
100 days of School Celebration(event postponed until further notice)
Hello Curley Families,
We hope everyone had a restful and wonderful break. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, Monday February 27th, for our first day back from February Break.
Schoolyard Committee:
Boston’s Community Preservation Community voted this evening to approve the Curley Schoolyard Rehabilitation grant proposal in full ($1 million)!* Thanks to all who submitted public comments on the schoolyard’s behalf. Two of your compelling letters were read aloud during the meeting tonight.
While this is tremendously exciting news for the Curley community in 2024, we are still seeking an immediate short-term solution for our muddy playground through BPS Facilities. We hope to hear from them soon about this rather desperate situation, and will keep you informed.
*The Committee will submit their recommendations to the Mayor for transmission to the City Council. The City Council will then vote in a month or so to appropriate the funds. So we are almost there! Community engagement will begin in May, for designing a brand new play area to open in September 2024.

You can also find it on the Curley website: https://curleyk8.com/
School-Based Inclusion Team:
The School-Based Inclusion Planning Team is a team of educators and parents who meet weekly to collaborate and plan for the implementation of inclusion at Curley K-8. Together, we are following a district-wide process to make recommendations on the implementation of inclusion across our school. Below is the process the team will be following.
For more information on what the team is doing, you can check out the weekly updates. Please view the following document: Curley K-8 SBIPT Communication to Staff/Families
Curley Library:
First of all, please bookmark the updated Curley Library Website. This website is a digital commons that serves as an academic information hub for students and families. Please take a few minutes to orient yourself to this resource. In particular, please find the link to the online catalog. Please note that you’ll need to enter Curley K8 the first time you access the catalog on your device.
Please read the Welcome Letter from Curley’s very own librarians. Read letter here
Library volunteers needed
The Curley library is looking for volunteers! There are also ongoing opportunities to help with shelving and organizing books. If you are interested in volunteering at the library, email Rachel King at rachel.and.bracken@gmail.com
All volunteers need to pass a CORI check, which can be found here: https://bit.ly/bpscori
Curley Website Update:
The Website Committee is underway with their work. The committee will revise content and reformat the dropdown menu in the coming weeks. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up if you noticed things looked different. We hope to create a staging site (a separate domain that functions as a website but has a different URL) to avoid altering the current website as we tinker, but we haven’t yet figured out if this is possible. We appreciate your patience as we begin our work!
After-School Opportunities:
- Tenacity Grades 6-8 – Tenacity’s Ace Academy is an intensive program for students in grades 6-8 that focuses on improving students’ academic, tennis, and fitness skills, while simultaneously nurturing social/emotional development and engaging families. Tenacity has been at the Curley K-8 for over 10 years and is a FREE after-school program Monday-Thursday from 3-6 pm and Fridays from 3-5 pm. We are accepting new students and encourage students to apply. Please reach out to our Site Director, Kimberly Salazar, via email kimberlysalazar@tenacity.org or by phone at 857-350-7175.
