Calling all Curley parents and caregivers!
The School Parent Council is forming two committees for this upcoming school year and need your help! We are looking for parent/caregiver volunteers to help with the following:
Fall Fling 2022 Planning Committee: this group will plan and deliver the first Fall Fling the Curley has run since 2019! Taking place in October, this event has historically been the school’s biggest fundraiser and is a fun evening event for both Curley students and their families. Some planning will begin later in the summer and go through the event in the fall.
Communications Committee: this newly formed committee will work to improve the school website and communication channels with our families about everything from school events, upcoming SPC and SSC meetings, and other important information.
If you are interested in participating in either committee or have any questions, please email Jess Orthman, current SPC Tri-Chair, at jessica.orthman@gmail.com.
Thank you to all our families for an amazing year and for supporting the Curley community!
Last Days of School: On Monday, June 27th and Tuesday, June 28th we will have an early release day with dismissal at 12:30pm. There will be NO before or after school programming on these early release days.
Summer: We wish all Curley families a safe, happy and healthy summer break! The school will be closed all summer but you will hear from us at the end of August and we will share next year class information at that time. Thank you for all your support this past school year! Everyone has earned a well deserved break and we ask that you encourage your child to read for enjoyment as much as possible.
Notes from our School Nurses: If your child has an epipen or another medication in school please make arrangements to come pick up this medication before his/her last day of school. Please see this notice for more information. Also this is the last week of COVID testing. There will be no more pool testing moving forward.
Summer Arts at Boston Arts Academy: BPS Middle School students intensively study dance and film through a free, week-long intensive! This program is an opportunity for middle school students to explore Boston Arts Academy, a Boston Public High School for the arts.

Schoolyard Updates: We are excited to announce that our new fence and gate surrounding the playground is fully installed! To help keep all students safe, families will not be allowed to walk through the gated area until 3:15 pm when all students have left the playground with their teachers. Thank you for your assistance. We ask that you walk around to Pershing road instead of cutting through the playing field if you need to be near the K1 exit before 3:15pm.
Family Activity: For our facebook users, there is a NEW way to connect with the Curley community, we now have a PRIVATE Facebook Group, Curley K-8 School Families! The group is made up of parents/ caregivers of Curley students as well as Curley teachers, staff members and administrators. This is a great spot to post information about or seek answers to all things Curley related! In order to join you have to be a member of the Curley community and agree to the group rules. We hope you’ll join in on the conversation!
Support for Families with Children with Autism: It is about grants that are open for families who have a child with Autism. https://www.aane.org/resources/family-and-friends/family-grants/
Cafeteria Updates: We are thrilled to announce that we have returned to cooking in our kitchen! There are no more pre-packaged meals! Eat day we are offering hot menu choices as well as a salad bar! Menus are linked here.
Family COVID Protocol Visual: We recognize that processing and understanding COVID protocols is incredibly overwhelming. The Curley Family Engagement Committee created a visual to try to support and help families to better understand what is happening at school and if your child tests positive for COVID 19. We hope you find this useful! If policies change we will update these visuals.
