SY22-23 Mid-Year Climate Survey – Open Links
For participating schools: Families can access the survey from BPS survey page if they haven’t received it by email/text. We ask that parents/guardians take the time to take the survey and reflect on their experiences with the Curley as community members.
Arts Committee presents Potluck and Paint Night:
The Curley Arts Teacher and Arts Committee is hosting its first Potluck and Paint Night, free to Curley families, on December 8th at 5:30 PM. We ask families to RSVP via the link. For more information, please see the flyer.
Information for Citywide School Showcase
BPS is excited to announce the return of our Citywide School Showcase Event! This year’s Showcase will be held at Boston Latin Academy on Saturday, December 10th from, 9:00-1:00.
Spirit Week:
The Curley Student Government is again organizing our first Spirit Week of the year, which will take place Dec. 19-22 (the week winter break starts). Here you will find the flyer with the information.
Fundraising for the Curley:
Shopping Days at BOING TOY SHOP (667 Center Street, JP) Tuesday, December 6th. BOING! Toy Shop will donate 15% of total sales to the Curley School.
Gift Drive:
The Curley K-8 Community comes together during the Holiday season to support one another. Members of the Curley Community can purchase gifts through the following link: Curley K-8 Gift Drive. Gifts can be shipped to Brianna Miller at 19 Pierce Street, #2, Boston, MA 02136 by Tuesday, 12/20. Gifts may be dropped off to the Upper School Office ATTN: Jessica Burque. Gifts may be wrapped or unwrapped, but please include the gift number. Monetary Donations are also accepted via Venmo @Jessica-Burque
Covid/Flu Vaccine @ the Curley December 7th at 9:30-12:00:
Curley school is partnering with Mass General Brighams to host a free Covid/ Flu Vaccine clinic. Students do not need to have their parents with them to get vaccinated as long as they provide a completed MGB consent form. Please fill out, have it, and bring it on the day of the clinic so they can get vaccinated. Please see the flyer for more information. School-Based Inclusion Team:
The School-Based Inclusion Planning Team is a team of educators and parents who meet weekly to collaborate and plan for the implementation of inclusion at Curley K-8. Together, we are following a district-wide process to make recommendations on the implementation of inclusion across our school. Below is the process the team will be following.

COVID-19 and Flu Update:
This week, we have seen an increase in respiratory illnesses, including flu and COVID-19 cases, in our school. Please keep your student home if they feel sick, including if they have a fever. Masking is strongly encouraged for all, good hand hygiene is important and don’t forget to get vaccinated!
Please also make sure you use your COVID test on Sunday evening or Monday morning before returning to school, regardless if your student is experiencing symptoms or not.

Ms. Samuel and I hope you are all doing well as we enter the cold of November, and that your students enjoy the much-needed November Break next week. We have been busy in the library, and we’d like to update you a bit about what has been happening. Click on this link for more information on what students are learning in the library.

Please take a few minutes to orient yourself to this resource. In particular, please find the link to the online catalog. Please note that you’ll need to enter Curley K8 the first time you access the catalog on your device.

Curley Website Update:
The Website Committee is underway with their work. The committee will revise content and reformat the dropdown menu in the coming weeks. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up if you noticed things looked different. We hope to create a staging site (a separate domain that functions as a website but has a different URL) to avoid altering the current website as we tinker, but we haven’t yet figured out if this is possible. We appreciate your patience as we begin our work!
After-School Opportunities:
- Tenacity Grades 6-8 – Tenacity’s Ace Academy is an intensive program for students in grades 6-8 that focuses on improving students’ academic, tennis, and fitness skills, while simultaneously nurturing social/emotional development and engaging families. Tenacity has been at the Curley K-8 for over 10 years and is a FREE after-school program Monday-Thursday from 3-6 pm and Fridays from 3-5 pm. District Events:
Boston Little Coders: The little Coders Program is designed to introduce kids as young as five years old to the world of computer science. Please see the flyer for more details.
Community Events:

- 30-minute lessons are offered Saturday mornings, January 7-February 2
- 8 lessons total
- $80 season cost – full scholarships available upon request
- Skate rental during lessons included in cost – no additional equipment required
- US Figure Skating Association accredited program
- Online registration opens December 1 @ 8m
Beyond the skate lessons, $3 skate rentals are available throughout the season at the Kelly Rink. The Kelly Rink is an open-air free public rink operated by the DCR, open typically December-March (weather permitting).
